Just to bring my readers up to speed…
Manchester United = 2008 UEFA Champions League Champion
David Cook = The 7th American Idol Winner
and I’m sure you guys already knew this..
Typically this entry is very much relevant to most Malaysian, but it may also apply to the people from countries that share similar time zone or at most plus minus of the GMT.
Yesterday (22/05/2008) morning was actually a rather unusual morning for me. Driving to the office while in sleeping + awaking mode. The output of staying up very late watching the UEFA final between Man Utd and Chelsea. The live telecast started at 2am (but the game started around 3am) and ended somewhere around 5.30am. It was a very interesting final.

2008 Champions!
Anyway.. to keep me awake while driving, I’ve tuned my stereo to one of the local radio station MIX.FM. As usually the morning crew will put up a topic to be discussed. Coincidently, of one the hosting DJ (Pedro) was described very tired and sleepy. He also watched the final game. On the other hand, two other co DJs (Ika & Serena C) whom both actually nice looking ladies were commenting on Pedro’s behavior.

David Cook Ultimate Night!
Then Pedro said he is very much sleepy and claimed that the UEFA final should be an acceptable and a very good reason to tell your boss that you are going to be late. But of course, for many women who not so into football/soccer, such lame excuse is very childish. If such excuse is acceptable, Ika + Serena C were suggesting that watching American Idol’s David Cook (that happened to be aired during prime time around 10pm) is also a good lame excuse for showing up work late. In other words, guys use the UEFA final while gals using David Cook as reason of excuse. The debate pretty much heated up, and they opened the topic for their callers for inputs.
My opinion is I have to agree with Pedro because this event only happened 1 in 1000. Why? It is because there is no guarantee that Man Utd will go against Chelsea in the next coming final. Who is going to watch if AC Milan vs Real Madrid (unless you are Italians or Spaniard). Malaysian are so much into the English especially if it is involves Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool. In addition to that, I never come to work late if watching something between the prime time. Who does that anyway?
So if you are a Malaysian.. state your comments. If you are not, please do so too.
